Myron "Butch" Beach Jr.

of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Wall, South Dakota, died on Saturday, February 28, 2026
The Villages, Florida at the age of 82

Myron "Butch" Beach Jr. left us from his earthly home on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 in The Villages, Florida.

Butch, as everyone knew him, was born January 25th 1944 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to proud parents Myron and Janis Beach. In the years to come, siblings Ralph (Doc), Cathy Diane, and Terri joined the family.

Myron and Janis bought the Miller Hotel in 1953 and converted it to the Cactus Cafe and Lounge. From the young age of 10 Butch inherited the restaurant and construction gene from his Dad. Butch worked alongside his parents running the restaurant and blazing new opportunities for the business to grow. The Cactus was his passion. He took great pride learning from his Dad to create delicious, amazing quality food. Everything was made from scratch, even the steaks were aged in a special walk-in cooler to become the most delicious, tender, hand cut delicacies.

In the summer of 1974 Butch met Kathy and her son Jimmy Coats. They all hit it off so on January 18th,1977 Butch and Kathy were married by the Justice of the Peace. They all spent many happy fulfilling years operating The Cactus Cafe and Lounge.

In 2010 Butch and Kathy, thinking of retirement bought a house in The Villages, Florida. It was a dream come true as it is a golfer's haven.

Butch served in the United States Army, National Guards, was a Golden Gloves boxer, rancher, co-owner of Deerfield Lake Resort and Campground, softball player and sponsor of The Green Machine softball team, won the South Dakota State class C pool tournament, and played football and basketball in high school.

Over the years, there are so many stories and tales of shenanigans to tell between friends, family, employees, strangers, town celebrations, bike rallies, holidays, snowmobiling, employee appreciation parties, hunting, pool tournaments, softball teams, pool tournaments, vacations, and coffee table banter. Take some time to remember a special moment that you shared with Butch and treasure it.

Butch was an amazing man of many skills. He will be remembered as a man of integrity. He was always there for the community in whatever capacity he was needed. Wall, South Dakota was always his home.

Butch is survived by his wife Kathy; stepson Jimmy and his partner Maria; grandchildren Aiden, Porter, Maisyn, Sage, and Gracie; sister Terri; and numerous in-laws who thought the world of Butch.

He was preceded in death by his parents Janis and Myron; brother Ralph (Doc); sister Cathy Diane; and other family members and in-laws.
