Karol Harperof Wasta, South Dakota, died on Saturday, November 11, 2017
|
Karol Ione Brown was born November 10, 1964, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Stanley and Betty Jane Brown. She grew up in Milwaukee until the age of 13, after the death of her father in January of 1978, and her mother in May of 1978. She moved, along with her brother Roger, to her sister’s Kathleen’s home in West Bend. At the age of 15, she moved with her brother Gary and his wife Samantha to Port Washington, Wisconsin, until they moved near Custer, South Dakota, where she graduated from Custer High School in 1982.
She then attended Bartlesville Wesleyan College, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. It is here that she met Douglas “Doug” Harper. They were united in marriage on August 8, 1987, in Custer, South Dakota; and to this union was born a daughter on December 8, 1996, Audrina. They made their home in Iowa City, Iowa for two years prior to Doug joining the US Air Force. Doug was stationed at Ellsworth throughout his career, and they made their home in Wasta since 1990.
Karol enjoyed books, and read whenever time allowed. She loved the color purple and fittingly was the color of the Pancreatic Cancer awareness, and November was the Pancreatic Cancer Awareness month.
Survivors include her husband Doug Harper of Wasta; her daughter Audrina Harper of Wasta; two brothers Roger Brown of West Bend, Wisconsin, and Gary Brown and his wife Samantha of Edgemont; two sisters Kathleen Ciborosky and her husband James of West Bend, and Karen Osipoff and her husband George of Bellville, Wisconsin; five nieces and nephews Christoper Shaw, Jennifer Lyons, Andrew Shaw, Ryan Brown, and Amy Liotta; a foster sister Brandi Kills Crow; and adopted daughter Kelsey Meng; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Karol was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, at the Wasta Community Center. There will be a time of sharing during this service, along with boards for the public to bring pictures of Karol to post. Certainly feel free to bring them with you to the service on Thursday.
Interment will be at the Elm Springs Cemetery following a time of fellowship.
