Cloreta Riggins was born in Kingsley, Iowa, on September 11th, 1927, to Floyd and Maire (Dugan) Riggins. She was the 8th of eleven children.
Cloreta started school in Union Center, Iowa. In the early 30’s the family moved to Bear Creek, west of Wanblee, South Dakota, on the Pine Ridge Reservation. The family moved separately as there was not enough money for all to come at the same time.
Cloreta attended Garner School 1st through 8th grade. She started high school in Wanblee, then transferred to Interior and graduated from Kadoka High School in 1946. She then attended Springfield Southern Normal. She took her State Examination to receive a teaching certificate in 1946. Later she graduated from Black Hills State with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree.
She began her teaching career at Sand Hill School in Washabaugh county.
Cloreta was united in marriage to Marvin Eisenbraun on June 21, 1947, in Kadoka. To this union were born four children, Randy, Nancy, Paul, and John. They made their home on the farm-ranch in Washabaugh County, where they resided until September of 2007 when they moved to Kadoka. After Marvin passed in 2009, Cloreta went back to teaching until 2014.
Cloreta was a wife, mother, farm-hand, and a teacher. Over the years she taught 63 years. All years were on the reservation. Her pot of gold was listening to a child read.
She loved gardening and her John Deere tractor. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Library Board, a volunteer at the Wanblee Church and other events in Wanblee. Wanblee was always home to her.
Cloreta told her children let me live until I die. That she did. She was still boss. Cloreta did it her way.
She is survived by three children, Randy (Laurie) Eisenbraun of Gordon, Nebraska; Nancy (Rex) Totton of Kadoka; and John (Lesa) Eisenbraun of Rapid City; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Faye Eisenbraun of Philip; a special friend, Hellen Good of Kadoka; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Cloreta was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; one son, Paul; a grandson, Shane Reutter; her parents; seven brothers, Cecil, Rex, Lynden, Jerry Lee, Wayne, “Tuffy”, and Harold; and two sisters, Ercell Albin and Valene Perault.
A memorial is established.

We have lost one of God's saints. Her faith in Jesus Christ in the midst of trials and difficulties was an example to all of us. All her life she was dedicated to teaching children both on and off the reservation. She was patient and forgiving to those who had gone astray and always hoping that they would find their way back home. We dearly miss her, but know she is spending eternity in Heaven with Jesus.

We had the wonderful privilege of knowing and sharing time with Cloreta as a result of her volunteer work with Jerome and Theresa High Horse in the village of Wanblee. She was always a joy and inspiration to be around. She will be greatly missed by everyone she had made contact with. It simply will not be the same without her smiling face. May God bring the family peace and comfort in this time of sorrow.

My dearest and fondest memories of Clarita & Mar, are so special and dear to me. I thank the Lord, for putting these beautiful people in my life. I learned so much about being a good humble person from example of Clarita and Mar, I'm so greatful to have had the opportunity to experience that. Clarita, rest easy now, you're with your loved one's and in the presences of the Lord. I'll always remember you and hold my memories very close. You will be missed by many. Thank you for all you have done for many Lakota people and others.

I am privileged to have known Cloretta both as a colleague and friend including her family members (Marvin, John, Nancy, Paul and Randy). Cloretta’s steadfast faith our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, supported her daily life and teaching. She demonstrated kindness, patience and forgiveness to all individuals with whom she came in contact. She was always willing to give to others as evidenced by her countless hours of volunteer work. Cloretta’s loving personality inspired both youngsters and adults. Those who knew her were delighted and their lives were made easier because of her self-sacrifice. Now, her legacy poses a challenge to remaining family, friends and community members. That challenge is to carry forth the work Cloretta commenced in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, until gloriously reunited in heaven.

It will always be a pleasure to work with Mrs. Eisenbraun at Crazy Horse School. I remember telling some of us aides that she had worked for nearly 60+ plus years as a teacher and it was the students that kept her young at heart. Another memory, at CHS, we had a staff development with the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Diabetes Program about using exercise during recess time. Mrs. Eisenbraun was very quick and kept up with the younger teachers who were in their 20s and 30s. Thank you Mrs. Eisenbraun for making me feel more comfortable when I thought my day at work was terrible. Rest in Peace and I will see you later.

Cloreta was a woman to be admired not only for her incredible work ethic but also for her enthusiasm and willingness to experience new things. I loved visiting with her each summer and learning of her newest adventures. Her yard and home were beautiful and she was always willing to tackle new projects. I know that Nancy tried to slow her down some but her motto of "let me live until I'm dead" prevailed. I will miss you Cloreta but know that heaven will be more beautiful because of your presence.

Cloreta was a wonderful person, she was a big part of my life when I was growing up. Mar and Cloreta became second grandparents to me as a child , I was always at their house all the time, she encouraged me in my 4-H projects and the various arts and crafts adventures I did when I was young. I learned alot about gardening and how to take care of various flowers and plants for the yard. :) My prayers to Nancy, Randy and John and all the family - May beautiful memories of a life lived to it fullest linger and the shadow of pain be lessened each passing day !! God Bless
